Whitelock

Whitelock is an Award Winning Net Zero Ready single family residence located in Nelson, BC

Based on Adaptive Home’s predesign Model 203, this home is the brainchild of a Canadian/Australian couple, whose vision was to blend two ways of living seamlessly into one home design. Elements of this house were inspired by Australian Glenn Murcutt’s environment sustaining farmhouse design, which merged with Adaptive Homes’ high-quality, sustainable ethos created a home that’s both interesting to look at, and comfortable to live in.

Murcutt’s influence is best seen in this finished home’s metal siding exterior, and the hipped gable roof.

This home is centered on the property, which not only creates a large backyard, but perfectly positions their home to maximize privacy from the neighbors, and provide an unobstructed view to the mountains. This house is oriented North South, giving the owners south facing windows and a back deck with views of the mountains.

The hipped gable roof, and large deck built onto the module after site install substantiates the home on the property, and the Canadian cedar decking built around this home brings a contrasting warmth to the light gray seamless Galvalume aluminum exterior siding siding of the module.
